About Unshortened

Unshorten any URL and check it for threats — free, private, no signup required.

Our Mission

Shortened links are everywhere — in emails, SMS, social posts, and chat messages. They hide the real destination, making it easy for bad actors to disguise malware, phishing pages, and unwanted software downloads.

Unshortened exists to make the web safer by revealing where every link actually goes, and scanning each destination against Google Web Risk — the same threat intelligence that protects billions of Chrome, Gmail, and YouTube users every day.

How It Works

01

Paste a Link

Drop any shortened URL — bit.ly, tinyurl, t.co, or any custom short domain — into the scanner.

02

Follow Every Redirect

We follow the full redirect chain (up to 5 hops) and show you every step, so you see exactly where the link leads.

03

Scan for Threats

The final destination is checked against Google Web Risk for malware, social engineering (phishing), and unwanted software.

04

Get Instant Results

Known-safe domains return in milliseconds. New URLs are scanned in seconds. Results are cached for 24 hours.

Privacy First

We don't track you. We don't log your IP with the URLs you scan. We don't build profiles or sell data. Scan results are cached temporarily to improve performance, but no personal browsing history is retained.
